Zooming and Depth of field
I thought I would take some time to speak about an additional
effect/look I would like to implement in my sequence. In the avengers sequence
they really take advantage of the depth of field and zooming in. Although a
portion of the zooming in is animated this is what i would like to base the
foundation of the effect off of.
The Detail
By zooming in and using the precise depth of field it has allowed them
to show us the definitive detail on the costumes down the very last chip and
scratch on the heroes props. You can tell a lot by how something looks and
simultaneously gets the imagination working as to what that prop had actually
gone through to look like how it does now.
It doesn't even have to have any major history to it. It could look
brand new, this could connote that the item is new or a more thought out
connotation is that it could be well preserved and that the character takes
good care of that item.
A bit about Depth of field
The lights and items/props in the background is carefully blurred out
yet the resolution on this video is crisp and superb. We can see the prop that
they want us to see perfectly and to do this i would have to make sure every
shot i take is ideal. i don't want the DOF to be out of focus because this
would show that i don't take pride in my work which would be false and it would
take away from the desired look
Bad depth of field
From my point of view I don't know weather the person shooting this wants us to acknowledge the green bean looking plants in the background or the purple flower because the DOF isn't defined enough for us to know. I don't want my audience to be in that dilemma and this is why I want the correct depth of field
An excellent idea to explore and discuss techniques that you would like to implement in your own work.
