~Diary Entry For Production 6-7#~

I have finally finished my rough edit and because of certain events i am speak for two days of work. Once i had finished my work i had to upload i to Youtube and then to my blog, showing it to my teacher who had some constructive criticisms about it. Of course most of the things she said i was going to improve anyway but the assurance of knowing that what i wanted to correct was right gave me even more confidence.

Today however i have started making the credits for titles and there was some discussion on it because it was going on a grey background. It needed to stand out while still representing the genres. It was a hard decision but we managed to get a suitable font and add in some texts.

~Evaluation Questions~

The lesson

We have been informed that we needed to do 7 questions for our evaluation. How you answer them and what order you answer them is up to us but we can not work together to answer the questions; they have to be unique and it is paramount that the questions are answered as creative as possible. Which should be hard for me at all. ALL questions must be answered or you get 0 marks.

The order I chose (The most important to the least)

I believe that recapping over our knowledge will open up our minds and remember back to things we wouldn't normally think about. that in effect it prepares us for future questions and at the same time we will be answering the question at hand. in conclusion, this question in a way links to all of the other ones.

I chose the social groups as a last question because i feel like it relates to target audience question which i put as the third most important question, felt like it was repeating the question. If i answer the Target audience question first i will easily answer the social groups. Plus i have already obtained the knowledge of various other social groups so that makes my work on that question that much easier.

~Diary Entry For Production #5~

The computer has decided to give me problem and erase literally half of my work editing. The cause is unknown however this taught me a lesson to frequently save. With that said i managed to get it back up to speed within an hour. Once i done that i had to run it by my partner and see what he though of it then our Rough edit was complete. No Sound was added.
We had done the institution too but that was done at the beginning of the day since it took 3 hours to render. It was a frustrating day but work got done effectively.

~Rough Edit "Decisive"~

This is my rough edit and hence the word "rough" there are quite a lot of things still left to be done at this current point in my progress with editing my title sequence.

The Sound

I will be implementing a soundtrack throughout the entire sequence since its replacing the sound in the actual video. I feel that by adding sound to it as planned will add atmospheric tension and will complement the visuals nicely.

Also i will also be adding in some sound effects as well as they are essential to this sequence and its also paramount that they go in because it would suit some of the certain points in this sequence.

Visual transitions

I will also be Adding a lot of video transactions to grip the suspense at certain times and manipulate certain situations with it; it will portray the various codes better I think.

Missing visual and length

I have missed out the mention of film district also so i will implement that credit in the final version. IF i can make it shorter and take out irrelevant parts i will do so because i have to think about the attention span and the patience of the viewer.

Conclusion

Overall, a bit bland in my opinion but since this is only the rough edit there will definitely be some major improvement.

~Diary Entry For Production #4~

Me and my work partner was on the Mac computers editing our footage that we had to take to the technician to upload. While editing i could still notice some jerky footage and for the ones that was not satisfactory, we stopped and filmed that part again. Luckily enough, no one was using the TV studio and we done it straight away. Editing our footage was pretty easy but a tad long.

~Diary Entry For Production #3~

We have managed to get some sort of structure to our filming. It was not a very good day however our imitative and tenacity got us through and we managed. The camera at one stage was not functioning properly and we attempted to take it back but the technician wasn't in so we had to then find our own teacher which was away and replace the camera. The second problem was We couldn't get the lighting the same so we had to re-film what we done initially and aknowledge that we didn't really need the manual lights. I as a result had to stay back and get all the filming done. I was back until 6pm

~Diary Entry For Production #2~

A small TV studio was booked for the day and were going to use it for the production. since the board is stationary not much movement of scenery will take place. We had quite a bit of trouble actually moving the camera in certain positions because the camera would jerk a bit and we need it to be as still as possible. However we rectified the problem and filmed.

~The Re-evaluation that changed this production for the better~

Due to unfortunate circumstances we have decided to change the visual of our title sequence and from the video you should get why but allow me to briefly point out:

  •  The grain in the camera as we filmed was a major inconvenience and for a person with so much pride i will not be marked down for such a matter, especially if we can evade it which we definitely can
  • We went under the assumption that professional films actually film in the dark all the time if they want the night effect but then we soon discovered that after filming, they add many filters in editing to make it look like light when its actually daytime, it was down to professional editing and we were told it is very difficult for rookies and we wouldn't have the time to learn it in time which is completely understandable.
  • As a result we didn't have enough light to do what we wanted whilst maintaining the "Nighttime" Effect. Without the filters and the correct equipment its impossible.

As it said in the video " This will no longer BE a problem" . What i meant by that is that we are going to make our sequence way more abstract so that we potentially have no actors. We believe by doing this we can achieve a to mark and we have the facility to do so.

The Inspired Abstract Style

Sequences like Napoleon Dynamite and Seven and even Home alone are the type of sequence were going for as less resources are needed and it will ultimately portray our codes better. We will be starting the filming again next week in the meantime we are going to get everything we need to start this soon going to be spending the whole day getting the filming aspect of it all finished. Ill be taking screen shots of some footage once we have it.

~Diary Entry for Production #1~

Diary Post 1

We have just started a fresh page and have deiced to take a different approach to the title sequence. We are going to keep it abstract. The image on the left is the basis of what we plan to do. We have a bulletin board and on it will be old evidence and criminal records. The string will connect to various pieces as a connotation of organization and hard work by the main character. It doesn't require much work in terms of Technical conventions thus the moving of the camera will be kept to a minimal while still making use of other Technical conventions.
